More details

How it works

The hCG Pregnancy Test Midstream detects human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) through visual interpretation of color development on a sample strip. Anti-hCG antibodies are immobilized on the test region of the membrane. During the test, the specimen reacts with anti-hCG antibodies on the sample strip. The mixture migrates through the membrane and interacts with reagents on the membrane, returning a result.

Interpreting results

The presence of a coloured band in the test region (T) indicates a positive result, while its absence indicates a negative result. A coloured band in the control region (C) serves as a procedural control, indicating that the proper volume of specimen has been added. If no band on the C region appears, the test is invalid, and should be repeated with a new device.

Precautions for use

The test is intended for home testing (or self-testing). It obtains a preliminary result only, to aid the detection of pregnancy. Please note that positive results do not preclude pregnancy—a test result should not be the sole basis for management decisions. This test is strictly intended for external use, and should not be placed inside the body.
